The Silverback Bangladesh Tour 2026 was a huge and proud moment for our school, Silverback. After more than 14 months of planning, meetings, and constant organising, the trip finally came together.
There had been a lot going on behind the scenes to make it happen. Regular calls from Mr Uddin (4th Dan), along with the host team—led by Muhammed Ali Akber (4th Dan)—and others involved, helped bring everything into place. What started as an idea turned into something real through a lot of time, effort, and teamwork.
Running from 29 March to 11 April 2026, the tour combined sport, culture, and travel. As part of the UK Taekwondo delegation, we travelled across Bangladesh to take part in the 3rd International ITF Taekwondo Seminar and Championship, hosted by ITF Bangladesh.
The Taekwondo events took place on 30 and 31 March, bringing together practitioners from different countries to train, compete, and share their experience of ITF Taekwondo.
From 1 April onwards, once the training and competition had finished, we were able to see more of the country, including visits to the Chittagong, Bandarban, Cox’s Bazar, and the tea regions of Sylhet.
From 3 April, many of the group split off to visit their own villages or travel independently, making the most of their time in Bangladesh before returning on 11 April.
This was an unbelievable opportunity for our students to showcase their abilities on an international stage and compete against participants from around the world. The group itself was diverse in experience—some students were regular travellers to Bangladesh, while for others it was their very first time visiting the country.
One of the biggest positives was the time our students had together. Most only train a couple of times a week back home, but on this trip they were together every day—training, travelling, and just spending time as a group. It made a real difference to their confidence, friendships, and overall development.
Parents and instructors also came along to support and be part of it all. Their involvement really added to the experience and helped make the whole trip feel even more special.
All in all, it was a massive achievement for Silverback, and something that will stick with everyone who was part of it.

We travelled from the UK to Dhaka via Sylhet, before continuing on to Chittagong.
Our instructors were very hands-on as we travelled together in a group of 29 passengers, including both parents and students.

A few of our students were showing off their style, sunglasses on, even inside Dhaka Airport 😎
Our final flight from Dhaka was delayed, so the team used the time to practise their patterns and have a fun photoshoot at the airport 📸✈️

Even some of our instructors joined in and had a bit of fun too 😄
