Kosru Uddin
Senior Instructor
4th Degree Black Belt (ITF) International Instructor
Mr Uddin’s journey in martial arts has been one of dedication and passion. Having trained in Kickboxing, Wu Shu Kwan, and Kung Fu from a young age, he later found his true calling in Taekwondo. Starting his training at the Docklands Taekwondo School in 1997, Mr Uddin has continuously honed his skills, currently under the guidance of Grand Master Tom Denis, a 9th Dan and the President of the England Taekwondo Association.
Mr Uddin’s approach to teaching reflects his deep commitment to his students’ success. He believes in helping them set and achieve their goals, and is driven by a passion for imparting his knowledge of Taekwondo.
In 1996–1997, Mr. Uddin had the rare and unforgettable honour of travelling to Leicester to attend a Taekwondo seminar—an experience that few can claim. At the time, he was a yellow belt, still early in his martial arts journey. But what made this seminar truly extraordinary was that it was led by none other than the founder of Taekwondo himself, Grand Master Choi Hong Hi, alongside his son, Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa. Mr. Uddin was privileged to learn directly from the main person himself—an opportunity virtually unheard of and one that left a lasting impact on his life and martial arts path.

Sufi Miah
3rd Degree Black Belt (ITF)
Mr Miah began practicing Taekwondo in 1993, inspired by the legendary Bruce Lee and the excitement martial arts brought into his life. Earning his 3rd Dan black belt represents a long journey of dedication and personal growth. He still remembers the thrill of receiving his 1st Dan in 1997, calling it one of the best feelings and proudest accomplishments of his martial arts career.
With nearly 30 years of training, he has built a strong foundation not only in Taekwondo but also in Kung Fu (brown belt) and Judo. He has a successful competition history, having won gold medals in the English, Scottish, and Welsh championships. Among all his milestones, achieving his first black belt remains the most meaningful.
He joined our school through the encouragement of Instructor K. Uddin and was excited to become part of a strong, disciplined team. His teaching style is regimented, focusing on structure, precision, and continuous improvement. He aims to help students become stronger, smarter sparrers and especially enjoys teaching sparring and drills.
Outside of Taekwondo, he enjoys football, rowing, and cycling, and finds daily motivation through maintaining a consistent training routine.
As an instructor, his goal is to help develop students to their fullest potential—hoping to see at least five students make the England Team. He is committed to guiding students toward becoming stronger competitors and helping them achieve excellence in sparring and beyond.
Mr Miah attended the Polish Winter Camp, held from 20th to 26th February 2026, where he had the privilege of training with Grand Master Jedut, widely regarded as the most successful competition coach in the sport’s history, and Master Suska, recognised as one of the most accomplished competitors of all time. The camp provided an exceptional opportunity to develop advanced techniques and gain insight from some of Poland’s most highly respected coaches, further enhancing his competitive expertise and professional growth.
Tahmina Khanom
3rd Degree Black Belt (ITF)
Ms. Khanom is a dedicated and accomplished Taekwondo instructor who currently holds a 3rd Dan black belt. She began her Taekwondo journey many years ago and achieved her second degree black belt before taking a break from training due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2022, after a period of absence from the mat, she returned to training with Silverback Taekwondo and the ETA, eager to continue her journey in a disciplined and challenging environment.
Her decision to join Silverback Taekwondo was driven by her desire to train under an instructor who placed a serious emphasis on detail and precision in every aspect of Taekwondo. Ms. Khanom sought a rigorous approach to learning, one where every movement, from preparation to execution, was scrutinized and refined. Under the guidance of Mr. Uddin, she embraced the philosophy of perfection, repeating techniques over and over again until she reached the highest possible standard.
The journey to her 3rd Dan was a long and difficult one, but Ms. Khanom persevered, continuously testing her limits and pushing through challenges. Along the way, she refined her skills and gained invaluable experience, which she believes has made her a more proficient practitioner. Her promotion to 3rd Dan is a culmination of years of hard work, discipline, and dedication. Ms. Khanom feels she has truly earned her place at this level, having been rigorously tested both physically and mentally.
As she continues her journey with Team Silverback, Ms. Khanom is excited to further develop her skills, inspire her students, and contribute to the growth and success of the Taekwondo community. She is committed to maintaining the highest standards of excellence and sharing her knowledge with others, ensuring that the next generation of Taekwondo practitioners reaches their full potential.

In addition to his personal goals, Mr Hussain is committed to supporting the students of Silverback Taekwondo, sharing his experiences and helping them along their own Taekwondo journeys. In January 2025, Mr. Hussain successfully completed his second-degree grading, which tested both his physical and theoretical knowledge. As part of the process, he also participated in a 3-step sparring session with Mr. Tran, a 5th Dan black belt.
